Welcome to the MRSEC!

Welcome to the University of Delaware’s Center for Hybrid, Active and Responsive Materials (UD CHARM), an NSF Materials Research Science & Engineering Center (MRSEC).  We are pleased to have you as a part of our center and community.  Please review the information below to familiarize yourself with the center and the resources available to you as a member.

Task List:

    1. Review information and links below for an overview of the center.
    2. Complete the onboarding form.
    3. Review CHARM program guidelines and expectations.
    4. Familiarize yourself with the center’s organization and people.
    5. All trainees are required by the NSF to receive training in the ethical conduct of research.  The Research Office provides this training in-person annually in January, or students can complete the training virtually at any time. Registration can be completed here.

What is the the Center for Hybrid, Active, and Responsive Materials?

Please review the About page to learn more about the program’s initiatives.  Information about our Interdisciplinary Research Groups (IRGs) can be found here. An important mission of our center is our Undergraduate Education and Outreach and K-12 Education and Outreach. These programs are key to our goals and require significant volunteer efforts.  CHARM funded graduate students are expected to participate in our outreach efforts.
